(MONTGOMERY, Ala.) Romanian medical service members visited Alabama's Unified Mission Command in downtown Montgomery where the Alabama National Guard, Alabama Department of Public Health and Alabama Emergency Management Agency combined to spearhead the state's COVID-19 response efforts. The delegation spoke with military and civilian leaders present to converse on tactics that have proven effective in both nations.
The joint delegation of Romanian Soldiers, Airmen, and Defense civilians traveled to Alabama to join in the state’s efforts in combatting COVID-19. Consisting of medical and chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) specialists, the delegation spoke with many of the Guard’s units, teams, and leadership to exchange lessons learned, best practices, and strategies for dealing with the pandemic that has affected both nations. The Alabama National Guard and Romania have been allied through the State Partnership Program since 1993 and have conducted hundreds of mutual training exercises and joint operations in that time.
