NOTRE DAME, Ind. – University of Notre Dame Naval ROTC (NROTC) Midshipman 1st Class Lauren Bartlett, 22, from Mequon, Wisconsin, recites the Oath of Office virtually via computer from her apartment in South Bend, Indiana as she commissions as an Ensign in the U.S. Navy. The oath was given by 1984 Notre Dame graduate, Adm. Christopher W. Grady, commander, United States Fleet Forces Command via computer teleconference from his headquarters in Hampton Roads, Virginia. More than 1,400 NROTC midshipmen, officer candidates and Marine Enlisted Commissioning Education Program (MECEP) Marines have virtually commissioned or are commissioning to U. S. Navy Ensigns and U.
