Charles A. Williams, Jr., left, assistant secretary of the Navy for Energy, Installations and Environment, awards a coin to Amanda Renjifo, public works energy manager, Marine Corps Installations East-Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune Public Works Office, in recognition of her role in the development and ongoing execution of a Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) awarded Utility Energy Services Contract (UESC) with Duke Energy, valued at $144 million, which will implement energy resilience measures aimed at improving installation utility infrastructure and traditional energy conservation measures that reduce energy use, and operations and maintenance costs at MCB Camp Lejeune and Marine Corps Air Station New River. The contract is projected to generate annual savings of almost $6 million and reduce both installations’ total energy and water consumption as well as drastically improve their energy security and resilience posture. The base has been a four-year recipient of the Secretary of the Navy Energy Award, which is given to installations that demonstrate leadership and effectiveness in the areas of energy security, new technology, innovation, program management and efficiency across the Department of the Navy.
