U.S. Army Maj. Gen. David P. Glaser, Deputy Commanding General - Operations, U.S. Army North (Fifth Army) discusses the ongoing support provided to hospitals with Commander Sean McKay, a U.S. Navy doctor, who is on-call 24/7 along with the rest of the Navy’s Rapid Rural Response Team 1 (RRRT1) assigned to Val Verde Regional Medical Center, Del Rio, Texas, July 24, 2020. RRRT1, consisting of one intensivist, five critical care nurses, and one respiratory therapy technician, maintains readiness to provide rapid hospital support and stabilization during peak COVID-19 patient surges, with a capacity to operate ventilated patients 24/7. U.S. Northern Command, through U.S. Army North, remains committed to providing flexible Department of Defense support to states in need as well as the Federal Emergency Management Agency in support of the whole-of-nation COVID-19 response.
