Mike Gilday breaks the ceremonial drywall with a sledge hammer during a ground breaking ceremony for the Operational Archives and Repository Complex, Aug. 5, at Naval History and Heritage Command (NHHC). The Navy is renovating two buildings at NHHC into modern complex that will meet standards for the protection and care of the Navy’s intellectual property that includes archives, records, books, art, underwater archaeology lab and some of the Navy’s most at-risk collections. NHHC, located at the Washington Navy Yard, is responsible for the preservation, analysis, and dissemination of U.S. naval history and heritage.
