Lt. Gen. Takashi Motomatsu, Commanding General, Western Army, Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, presents Japan’s Defense Cooperation Award to U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Gen. William M. Jurney, Commanding General, 3rd Marine Division at Camp Courtney, Okinawa, Japan, Aug. 7, 2020. Jurney was recognized by the JGSDF for his leadership and efforts in support of the U.S.-Japan Alliance, strengthening the partnership between the U.S. Marine Corps and JGSDF by increasing interoperability and operational capabilities through numerous bilateral exercises and collaborative training events.
