Renke, an explosive ordnance disposal sergeant from the Camp Roberts-based 217th Ordnance Company (EOD), California Army National Guard, fires the M107 long-range disruptor while Antioch, Calif., native, 1st Sgt. Stevan Mays, provides visual support with a spotting scope at Camp Roberts, July 11. Often perceived as a weapon for human targets or disabling vehicles, the M107 is primarily used by EOD technicians as a tool to neutralize potentially dangerous ordnance from a distance.
