A surviving family member places her hand on the name plaque of one of the lost Yukla 27 crew members at the Yukla 27 25th anniversary memorial ceremony at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, Sept. 22, 2020. Yukla 27, a U.S. Air Force E-3 Sentry airborne warning and control system aircraft assigned to the 962nd AACS, encountered a flock of geese Sept. 22, 1995, and crashed shortly after takeoff on a routine surveillance training sortie, killing all 24 Canadian and U.S. Airmen aboard.
