A crew from the California Army National Guard’s Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 126th Aviation Regiment, 40th Combat Aviation Brigade, secures a firefighting bucket onto their CH-47 Chinook Sept. 26, 2020, at the Creek Fire helicopter base in Auberry, California. The Stockton, California-based crew concluded the day’s mission and loaded the bucket prior to returning to Cal Guard’s Fresno Aviation facility. When full, this bucket can hold 2,000 gallons of water. It takes a team to maneuver the bucket for it to be operational. The Creek Fire ignited Sept. 4 and three weeks later it has destroyed nearly 300,000 acres. As of Sept. 26 it isn’t 50 percent contained. (U.S. Army National Guard photo by Staff Sgt. Eddie Siguenza)
