U.S. Navy Rear Adm. Darius Banaji, deputy director for operations, Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA), presents a gift to Mr. Allen Hoe, a decorated Vietnam war veteran during ceremony for National POW/MIA Recognition Day at the DPAA facility in Honolulu, Hawaii, Sept. 18, 2020. First established in 1979, through a proclamation from President Jimmy Carter, National POW/MIA Recognition Day, is an observance to honor and recognize the sacrifices of those Americans who have been a POW, and to remind the nation of those who are still MIA.
