U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Brent Stevens, a chief scout with 3d Reconnaissance Battalion, 3d Marine Division, sits at range 113 during Service Level Training Exercise (SLTE) 1-21 aboard Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms, Calif. Sept. 29, 2020. “I have been firing precision rifles since before I was a Marine,” said Stevens, a native of St. Petersburg, Florida. “I love firing these beautiful weapons and always jump at the opportunity to introduce others to one of my passions.” SLTE 1-21 is an exercise designed to provide realistic and challenging training at every level of the Marine Corps to better prepare Marines to operate against future peer and non-peer threats. Marines are also taking extensive mitigation efforts against COVID-19 by methodically sanitizing areas, wearing face coverings, social distancing, and additional hand washing/sanitization stations are provided for units in the field.
