U.S. Air Force Col. Daniel McDonough, the commander of the 182nd Airlift Wing, Illinois Air National Guard, returns the Distinguished Flying Cross medal to Richard Ward II during a ceremony honoring his father in Peoria, Ill., Aug. 27, 2020. Richard and his sister, Ann J. Ward, are the children of Capt. Richard Ward, an F-84D Thunderstreak pilot who died in an on-base aircraft accident during the June 1959 drill weekend.
