CAMP LEMONNIER, Djibouti – Service members stationed at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, stand at attention during a moment of silence in honor of the 20th anniversary of the terrorist attack on the guided-missile destroyer USS Cole (DDG 67), on base, Oct. 12, 2020. Cole was the target of a suicide attack by terrorists, Oct. 12, 2000, during a routine refueling stop in Yemen’s Aden Harbor killing 17 Sailors and injuring another 37 Sailors in the blast. Camp Lemonnier is an operational installation that enables U.S., allied and partner nation forces to be where and when they are needed to ensure security in Europe, Africa and Southwest Asia.
