201009-M-UV498-2043 PACIFIC OCEAN (Oct. 9, 2020) – U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Austin Hickman, a mortarman with Charlie Company, Battalion Landing Team 1/4, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, labels a terrain feature aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) in preparation for training ashore. The terrain model assists Marines in identifying landmarks and structures on a map during training missions.
