Hoosier Vietnam veteran Frank Spink, 66, Plainfield, Ind., speaks with the media with his old platoon leader John McHenry after receiving the nation’s third-highest award for valor, the Silver Star Medal at Indiana Joint Force Headquarters, Indianapolis, Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012. Spink received the award 44 years after losing his right arm fighting the North Vietnamese in Dak Pek, South Vietnam in 1968.
