Sky Soldiers exit a C-130 during sustained airborne training with the Esercito Italiano Alpini Paracadutisti Rangers at Juliet Drop Zone in Maniago, Italy. Training like this allows both allies to gain confidence in each other's equipment and procedures, and helps build the bonds of interoperability between both Armies.
Afterwards, there was a wing exchange ceremony for the Italian Paratroopers that jumped. They were awarded the U.S. Army Parachutist Badge and pinned by leaders from across the 173rd that also took part in the operation.
The 173rd Airborne Brigade is the U.S. Army's Contingency Response Force in Europe, providing rapidly deployable forces to the United States Europe, Africa and Central Command areas of responsibility. Forward deployed across Italy and Germany, the brigade routinely trains alongside NATO allies and partners to build partnerships and strengthen the alliance.
