U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Buffalo District contractor Ryba Marine Construction Co. dredges the Buffalo Harbor, Buffalo, NY, September 23, 2020. The harbor requires approximately 100,000 cubic yards (CY) of dredging every two years to maintain the navigation channel. Dredging was last completed in 2018, which removed 125,000 CY of material.
The dredged material was beneficially used for ecosystem restoration at nearby Unity Island.
