Lt. Gen. Laura J. Richardson, the commanding general of U.S. Army North (Fifth Army) and the Joint Force Land Component Command, arrives at the University Medical Center in El Paso, Texas, Nov. 18, 2020 with Ryan Mielke, Director of Public Affairs at the hospital. Approximately 60 service members arrived in El Paso in early November, working jointly with civilian hospitals to assist in the mitigation of COVID-19 and help citizens in need. U.S. Northern Command, through U.S. Army North, remains committed to providing flexible Department of Defense support to the Federal Emergency Management Agency in support of the whole-of-America COVID-19 response.
