201202-N-IE405-1625 STRAIT OF HORMUZ (Dec. 2, 2020) The guided-missile cruiser USS Philippine Sea (CG 58), the U.S. Coast Guard patrol boat USCGC Adak (WPB 1333) and the patrol coastal ship USS Tempest (PC 2) transit the Strait of Hormuz, Dec. 2. Philippine Sea is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and Pacific through the Western Indian Ocean and three critical chokepoints to the free flow of global commerce.
