NORFOLK (Dec. 17, 2020) Members of the National Commission on Military Aviation Safety (NCMAS) brief Rear Adm. Fredrick Luchtman, Commander Naval Safety Center, and other Naval Safety Center Staff on military mishap data gathered between 2013 and 2018. The commission conducted a comprehensive review of military mishaps to reveal trends, identify shortcomings, and highlight best practices through analytical data. Future use of this data could aid in preventing a similar mishap in the future. The Naval Safety Center acts as the safety advocate for the fleet by preserving warfighting capabilities and combat lethality through the use of modern technology to maintain statistical data, identify hazards and reduce risk to people and resources.
