SANTA RITA, Guam (Aug. 13, 2020) Lt. Cmdr. Alan Bush (left), assigned to Commander, Submarine Forces, U.S. Pacific Fleet, observes as Torpedoman’s Mate 1st Class Scott Mendez (middle) and Torpedoman’s Mate 3rd Class Jonathan Womack, both assigned to the Los Angeles-class fast-attack submarine USS Asheville (SSN 758), load an encapsulated harpoon loading shape into a torpedo tube during harpoon shipping, loading and handling certification training in the torpedo room aboard Asheville. The certification is required in order for the submarine to carry and employ warshot tactical Harpoons.
