Nimitz CSG Conducts Flight Operations During Simulated Strait Transit

200514-N-BC190-2048 PACIFIC OCEAN (May 14, 2020) – A MH-60R Sea Hawk Helicopter, from the “Battlecats” of Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 73, takes off from the flight deck of the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68). The Nimitz Carrier Strike Group conducted a simulated Strait Transit along as part of a composite training unit exercise (COMPTUEX). COMPTUEX is an intensive exercise designed to fully integrate units of a CSG, while testing a strike group’s ability as a whole to carry out sustained combat operations from the sea.
