    Civay received the award for his dedicated service to the Juneau, Douglas, and Auke Bay communities. He joined Juneau’s Capitol City Fire Rescue in December 2018 and volunteered over 750 hours training, responding to emergency calls as a firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician, and performing duties as Secretary of the Alaska State Firefighter Association. He participated in 23 drills and exercises, and responded to a total of 42 emergency medical calls and fire call outs; saving or assisting 41 lives, and preventing hundreds of thousands of dollars in property damage – including the saving of seven Juneau homes.
