Iron plates with Theodore O'Hara's poem "Bivouac of the Dead" at Finn’s Point National Cemetery, Pennsville, N.J., Dec. 18, 2020. The Cemetery is administered by the National Cemetery Administration, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. The land, which was originally purchased to build a gun battery to protect Philadelphia, was used as a burial site for Confederate prisoners of war who died while imprisoned at Fort Delaware, as well as their Union Guards. The site became a national cemetery in 1875 and is still in use today. (New Jersey Department of Military and Veterans Affairs photo by Mark C. Olsen)
