    31st Marine Expeditionary Unit

U.S. Marine Cpl. Colton Forristal, a squad leader with India Company, Battalion Landing Team 3rd Battalion, 4th Marines, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), and a native of Kansas City, Missouri, dons his gear to conduct fast rope elevator drills at Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Jan. 7, 2021. Fast roping allows Marines to insert into austere environments when landing is not feasible. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premiere crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
