A U.S. Marine Corps MV-22B Osprey tiltrotor aircraft assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 262 (Reinforced), 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), hovers in support of fast rope elevator drills at Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Jan. 7, 2021. Fast roping allows Marines to insert into austere environments when landing is not feasible. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premiere crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
