WASHINGTON (Jan. 5, 2021) A signed Navy Cross award certificate addressed to Navy Chaplain Lt. Thomas M. Conway sits on the desk of Secretary of the Navy Kenneth J. Braithwaite at the Pentagon. Conway was posthumously awarded the Navy Cross for his heroic efforts aboard the USS Indianapolis (CA 35) when it was attacked and sunk by an enemy submarine in 1945.
