Lantern Slide 15: The Long Bridge in 1865. Its first predecessor was opened in 1809, partly destroyed in 1814, rebuilt in 1816, purchased and rebuilt by the Government in 1832, destroyed by ice in 1836, restored in 1838 (as seen here). The railroad portion of this bridge was added in 1872.
