On 06 Jan 21, the 628 CES Emergency Management team at JB Charleston, South Carolina, conducted an unexpected field drill that sharpened their CBRN skills and enhanced their readiness . This photo depicts Emergency Managers SrA Justin Hanberry and SSgt Ashley Williamson as they approach the container and use a Multi-Pro monitor to detect explosive vapors and monitor oxygen levels. Initial actions for a CBRN response include eliminating the possibility of any nuclear or radiological threats. Once the threat is deemed either chemical or biological, the team will proceed with its sampling procedures (USAF photo by TSgt Nick Pompa).
