Rennie Cory III, along with his two children and wife Amanda; Michael Ellerbe, Sr.; and Sgt. 1st Class Michael Ellerbe, Jr. attended the 20th Anniversary Remembrance Ceremony on April 7, 2021, for the MI-17 helicopter crash in Quang Binh Province, Vietnam, that took the lives of seven U.S. service members and nine Vietnamese service members, including Cory’s father, Lt. Col. Rennie Cory, Jr., while on a mission to search for missing U.S. service members on April 7, 2001. Lt. Col. Corey was considered family by the Ellerbes. The ceremony was held in the POW/MIA Corridor of the Pentagon, and featured remarks from Cory; Gen. Mark Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; His Excellency Ha Kim Ngoc, Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the U.S.; and Kelly McKeague, the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency Director.
