A western fence lizard climbs a tree March 4, 2021, at Travis Air Force Base, California. The reptile is active when temperatures are warm and becomes inactive during periods of extreme heat or cold, when they shelter in crevices and burrows, under rocks, boards, and tree bark. Travis AFB’s Natural Resources Program is responsible for surveys, analysis and documentation of threatened and endangered species, wetlands, forest resources and other field studies.
