U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Darljp Agcaoili, 9th Engineer Support Battalion combat engineer, poses for a photo during Balikatan 21 in Barangay Duhat, Plaridel, Ph., April 13, 2021. Balikatan is an annual exercise between the U.S. and the Philippines and comes from a Tagalog phrase meaning "shoulder-to-shoulder," representing the partnership between the two countries. "I was born here in the Philippines and lived in Pangasinan until I was nine, then I moved to Alaska. After being in Anchorage for nine years, I came back at 18, but it had been a long time. This was actually one of my biggest goals, to come back and build something that gives back to my country and the community.”
