U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Joshua Wyclif, an embarkation specialist with 3rd Marine Expeditionary Brigade, poses for a photo on Camp Courtney, Okinawa, Japan, April 28, 2021.
“I was born and raised in Connecticut but my parents are from India, so I grew up with that culture, which wasn’t too different from all my friends. I joined the Marine Corps at 20 years old, and I’ve been in for two years now and in Okinawa for a year and a half. Okinawa is fun because there are so many things to do here. My favorite thing is to go eat food at nice locations around island. I like to go to the beach, go cliff-jumping, snorkeling. I want to get my scuba-diving license.
I like being with the MEB. I’m an embarker so I assist the mobility officer in getting our unit and cargo to and from places. I have good leadership here. Being here, you get a lot of interaction with high ranking officers and a lot of people with experience so you learn a lot of stuff about life and the Marine Corps in general.”
