Ken Davis, a veteran volunteer with the N.C. Baptist Men disaster relief organization, works on a broken generator supplying power to a mobile laundry unit for North Carolina National Guard soldiers participating in the Operation Panther training exercise, Aug. 25 to Sept. 8, 2012, in Charlotte, N.C. Davis, of Bladenboro, N.C. was a member of the 30th Heavy Brigade Combat Team back in the late fifties. During the exercise, a mutual respect amongst the veterans and active service members was evident as Army Maj. Steven Jakan, of the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 150th Military Police Battalion, gave Davis his 30th HBCT combat patch because he thought Davis was more deserving of it.
