Cemetery located behind the Connecticut Farms Presbyterian Church at Union, N.J., April 26, 2021. The cemetery contains the bodies of more than 70 American Soldiers and a mass grave of British and Hessian soldiers who died at the Battle of Connecticut Farms during the Revolutionary War. The battle was an attempt by the British to break through and attack Washington’s army at Morristown June 7, 1780. Meeting stiff resistance, the British reevaluated their position and withdrew, setting fire to the church and town of Connecticut Farms, now Union Township. The present church was rebuilt in 1782. The Battle of Connecticut Farms was the last major battle in the northern colonies. (New Jersey Department of Military and Veterans Affairs photo by Mark C. Olsen)
