Meet Pfc. Dakota Hardwick, a Patriot fire control enhanced operator and maintainer assigned to 5th Battalion, 7th Air Defense Artillery. She and her unit are currently deployed to an air base near the coastal city of Zadar, Croatia. Hardwick said, “We are testing our equipment and skills while we are here.”
While working with Croatian forces, Hardwick said she and her team, “Have been answering a lot of their questions about the system, what we do and why it’s so important.”
Hardwick and the rest of her unit are deployed in support of DEFENDER-Europe 21, a large-scale U.S. Army-led exercise designed to build readiness and interoperability between U.S., NATO allies and partner militaries. This year more than 28,000 multinational forces from 26 nations will conduct nearly simultaneous operations across more than 30 training areas in more than a dozen countries from the Baltics to the strategically important Balkans and Black Sea Region.
