PACIFIC OCEAN (May 19, 2021) – A U.S. Navy landing craft, air cushion, assigned to Assault Craft Unit 5, currently embarked with amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8), lands on a beach at U.S. Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton. The Makin Island Amphibious Ready Group and the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit are conducting routine operations in the U.S. 3rd Fleet area of operations.
