A Kentucky National Guard Gold Star family member uses a blue color to create a rubbing from the Fallen Soldier Memorial that rests outside Boone National Guard Center in Frankfort, Kentucky, May 31, 2021. This year's annual Memorial Day event focused on the new name added to the Memorial’s stone face and the fifteen fallen of the 103rd and 106th Coast Artillery Battalions whose names appear on the Memorial on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of World War II. These men fought in North Africa, Sicily, Italy, France, Belgium, and Germany. (U.S. Army National Guard photo by Staff Sgt. Benjamin Crane)
