A U.S. Marine Corps F/A-18D Hornet aircraft from Marine All Weather Attack Squadron 224, Marine Aircraft Group 31, receives fuel from a U.S. Air Force KC-135R Stratotanker aircraft assigned to the 340th Expeditionary Air Refueling Squadron during operations in the U.S. Central Command theater supporting the Combined Joint Task Force - Operation Inherent Resolve, May 24, 2021. The Hornet is a flexible, multirole combat jet that bolsters USCENTCOM’s air component and performs as fighter escort, fleet air defense, suppression of enemy air defenses, air interdiction, close air support, and aerial reconnaissance.
