Col. Marc V. LaRoche, Deputy Commander for U.S. Special Operations Command Europe presents a surviving member of the French Resistance with a Coin of Excellence at the memorial dedication ceremony in St. Marie Du Mont on June 05, 2021. Family members of resistance fighters were also in attendance to witness the dedication to the French Resistance who are credited with aiding allied forces, particularly the Jedburgh Teams to succeed in defeating the Nazis throughout occupied Europe. Special Operation Forces credit their lineage to the Jedburgh Teams who relied on the assistance of the French citizens who made up the resistance.
