LUKE AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz.— Col. Abel Ramos, 924th Fighter Group commander, flies his A-10 Thunderbolt II, affectionally named the Warthog, over the State of Arizona, June 3, 2021. The Warthog is the Air Force’s only aircraft specifically designed for close air support to protect combat troops on the ground. The 924th Fighter Group is located at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona, and is geographically separated from their parent wing, the 944th Fighter Wing at Luke Air Force Base, Arizona.
