Instructors from the State of Alaska, Department of Natural Resources, Office of Boating Safety, came to the Augustus Brown Pool in Juneau, Alaska to conduct instructor training for civilians, and active duty and auxiliary Coast Guard members, May 26, 2021.
"They are trained to teach," said Mike Folkerts, a Coast Guard 17th District boating safety expert. "We train the instructors to a higher degree to properly teach children how to wear their life jackets and become familiar with life-saving boating safety skills."
