CAMP LEMONNIER, Djibouti (June 8, 2021) U.S. Army Sgt. Jared Harold, from Youngstown, Ohio, assembles the cove cut slats for one pillar of a ceremonial archway using a method called "coopering," commonly used in the making of barrels. Held together with adhesive and bound with tether straps, the scoop-shaped boards form a cylinder. Camp Lemonnier is an operational installation that enables U.S., allied and partner nation forces to be where and when they are needed to ensure security in Europe, Africa and Southwest Asia.
