PACIFIC OCEAN (July 31, 2021) A member of U.S. Coast Guard Law Enforcement Detachment (LEDET) 107 lowers himself into a 7-meter rigid-hull inflatable boat during an Oceania Maritime Security Initiative (OMSI) drill. The Independence-variant littoral combat ship USS Jackson (LCS 6) is deployed in support of the OMSI program, a Secretary of Defense program leveraging Department of Defense assets transiting the region to increase the Coast Guard’s maritime domain awareness, ultimately supporting its maritime law enforcement operations in Oceania.
