Capt. Kayla Corob, a medical surgical nurse with the 901st Medical Detachment, left, and Maj. Lucas Marcum, a critical care nurse with the 348th Field Hospital, right, tie orange marking ribbons onto a string grid-line that mapped out where tents will go up for a field hospital during Combat Support Training Exercise (CSTX) and Global Medic at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin, Aug. 10, 2021.The medical teams participating in the exercise set up their own tents and equipment in order to simulate a realistic combat environment.

“The staking team is super important, because if your hospital is misaligned then you can’t, say, connect your patient hallway to the operating room … when you’re building this, inches matter. If you’re off by a tenth of a degree here, you could be 50 degrees off for the rest of the hospital," Marcum said.

The 78th Training Division in charge of this rotation of CSTX intends for the exercise to prepare U.S. Army Reserve Soldiers for near-peer adversary environments. (U.S. Army Photo by Staff Sgt. Brigitte Morgan)
