Heavy equipment operators prepared this section of the bank to facilitate the work needed to complete channel excavation and cleanout for the adjacent section of Iron Creek in Poinsett County, Ark. The construction team, contracted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - Memphis District, work from specifications and plans for the project, which includes the channel cleanout, reestablishing the berm, removing the excavated material, and seeding and mulching the site as an added layer of protection. Recurring projects like this channel cleanout greatly improve channel drainage, an important component for flood mitigation.
