PACIFIC OCEAN (Aug. 19, 2021) Naval Air Crewman (Helicopter) 1st Class Salomon Padilla, from Mountainair, N.M., assigned to the ‘Wildcards’ of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 23, looks out the door of an MH-60S Sea Hawk as they pass over the Independence-variant littoral combat ship USS Jackson (LCS 6). The Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) is a fast, agile, mission-focused platform designed to operate in near-shore environments, winning against 21st-century coastal threats.
