U.S. Army Maj. Gary Croston discusses food requirements for Afghan personnel with Shawn Girard, July 29, 2021, at Fort Lee, Virginia. Croston is a contracting officer with the 419th Contracting Support Brigade at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and Girard is a food service worker with Taylors International. The Department of Defense, through U.S. Northern Command, and in support of the Department of State and Department of Homeland Security, is providing transportation, temporary housing, medical screening, and general support for up to 50,000 Afghan evacuees at suitable facilities, in permanent or temporary structures, as quickly as possible.
