U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Jerald Costa, a radio operator with 5th Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company detachment, Marine Rotational Force – Darwin, listens to radio traffic for coordination of close air support for a company attack on Objective Dingo during Exercise Koolendong, Bradshaw Field Training Area, NT, Australia, Aug. 29, 2021. Costa and the fires team conducted the support operations in order to neutralize enemy ground forces for the infantry to seize their objective. Exercises like Koolendong validate MRF-D’s and the Australian Defence Force’s ability to conduct expeditionary command and control operations, demonstrating the shared commitment to being ready to respond to a crisis or contingency in the Indo-Pacific region.
