LAFAYETTE, La. -- U.S. Navy Capt. Steven Praske, a pulmonary critical care physician with Naval Medical Readiness and Training Command in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, reviews a COVID-19 patient’s data in Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center at Lafayette, Louisiana, Sept. 2, 2021. Praske, one of a small-select number of pulmonary critical care physicians referred to as the “Medical Navy Seals”, travels with the DoD medical support team to COVID-19 hotspots across the U.S. at the request of FEMA or other lead-federal agencies. U.S. Northern Command, through U.S. Army North, remains committed to providing flexible DoD support to the whole-of-government COVID-19 response.
